Question for comic book lovers.

I am Japanese. Right now in Japan, "Blade of the Oni", "SPY x FAMILY", "Censorman", "Jutsu Kaisen", "Shinkage no Kyojin", etc. are very popular. What manga are you into?

I have yet to see anyone outdo the first Vampire Hunter D anime! That one was a classic

@TheLordOfHell What about "Akira"?
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@Kwek00 I've heard of it, but I have yet to see it

@TheLordOfHell You'll get it when you watch Akira. I get your Vampire D comment, I even own it on DVD. But seriously dude... If you never saw: Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, ... then what are we even talking about? And if you like those grindhouse like late 80s early 90s stuff, then you have to also plow through: Ninja Scroll, Wicked City, Demoncity: Shinjuku, Twilight of the Dark Master, Memories, Fist of the North Star OVA, Golgo-13, Biohunter, Cybercity OEDO, ... Pretty much everything that "Madhouse" popped out around that time period. And do yourself a favor, plow through Berserk 1997 too, because if you like Vampire Hunter D, you are going to love Berserk.

@Kwek00 Ghost in the Shell and Perfect Blue also sound familiar. My sister has Ghost in the Shell, I believe

@TheLordOfHell I'm pretty sure that if you for a top 5 anime movies of all time... those titles will keep poppin' up. Even after all that time. There is a good reason for that too. Not only is the animation incredible, the stories are pretty mind blowing. But if you like your more wacky gory bits, then you should really look up all the madhouse stuff. The highest quality (production value) is probably Ninja Scroll. I watched Demoncity: Shinjuku with my girlfriend, and she is still laughing with all the bullshit that is in there. Espescially the english dub is hillarious.
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@Kwek00 Yah I do like me some anime gore. Hahaha Demoncity sounds like a blast. I'm heading to the used bookstore again tuesday and I'll see if I can find any of these
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheLordOfHell I think "Wicked City" is the better one of those... Over here you find "Wicked City" and "Demoncity: Shinjuku" often bundled in the same box. At least when they are on for sale, because some of this crap is hard to find out here. But Region 1 vieuwers have more options then region 2 vieuwers. Unless you want your movie in German, Italian or French (that includes subtitles).

I even have "Urotsukidoji 2: Legend of the Demon Womb", and on the box it reads: "Japanese, English and Greek" ... but the disk is only in Greek. I bought it again, because I thought it was a mistake... but I got the same box, and it's only in Greek. Ofcourse, they speak in English in some bits and they speak Japanese 90% of the time. But that doesn't really qualify to put: "english" on the box.
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@Kwek00 They're bound to have at least one of those, and if not those, the classics from the 90s. They have an entire wall dedicated to anime and manga. Thanks for the info!
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheLordOfHell Don't forget Akira. ... Like, you should at least try Akira once in your life. Even if you don't like it.

"Wicked City" and "Demon City", are both fully availble on youtube in English Dub. If that might interest you. At least in my region it is, not sure if it's blocked over there.
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@Kwek00 I'm almost positive Akira will be there. I'll have a look after nap time for Wicked City and Demon City
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@TheLordOfHell Cyber City Oedo, is also fully availble on youtube (english dub) over here. And "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust" (2000) can be fully watched with English Subs. Fist of the North Star: The Movie, is availble out here in English Dub too. With one of the most manliest scenes in Anime:
