Africans: "we have resources" ... Oh yeah, well look at Singapore... No resources per capita ppp of $156,755.

Obviously, there's something wrong here.

Yep. It is called unequal exchange.

Former official colonial masters work out unfair deals with local elites they put in power during colonialism to exploit their former official colonies through a local middle man that they pay well to sell out their people.

And what do you have in mind?
@ninalanyon Africa cannot grow if it continues to export raw materials and resources for cheap without building an industrial base. It's their own fault.

The reality is that many leaders in Africa have no interest in sharing the nation’s wealth with their people. They enjoy the power they hold and the luxury of living like kings amid widespread poverty. They send their children to prestigious Western institutions, only for those same children to return and inherit their positions in government. Nothing changes because they do not want anything to change. They stash their money in Western banks and siphon off IMF funds meant for development.

@Jokersswild "it's their own fault" makes it sound like everyone there is at fault. It's the leadership that is the problem together with richer countries taking advantage of corrupt leadership.
