I Am a Huge Animal Lover

This afternoon, I went for a hike to the park in the center of the city just 2 km away from home. I was swinging on the swings, thinking about some things regarding life, and I noticed this bird that fell from a tree.

It was a baby swallow. Its back was hurt, and out of nowhere, a white cat came to try to eat it. The poor thing was struggling to run away but couldn't run or fly. I immediately ran off to chase away the cat and took the bird in my hand.

It was real freaked out and it screeched a lot. I was stressed because I thought people will get the wrong idea, but I pet it on the head for a minute and it calmed down. I also gave it a subtle belly rub and took it all the way home.

My parents said I can't keep it and I'd have to take it to a vet to heal it, but I couldn't do that since it's pretty expensive, so I let it walk around in our garden. Some four hours later, its mother found it and took it with herself. I managed to rescue the poor thing! :)

Gandhi once said 'The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

So can the heart of a person.

@Mamapolo2016 Oh thanks. Although I'm happy you think so, I really did it to save it, because I felt sad seeing it struggle so much. It was just born and didn't deserve to die. I was worried during those four hours that another cat can attempt to take it. I threw a stick nearby one of them as it tried to reach for it, just to scare it away.
That’s exactly what I mean. If you can’t expect to receive applause and admiration for saving a baby sparrow, but you still do it - that makes you a great person.@Stefan136

@Mamapolo2016 Nah. The only part that worried me is that the people around would think I'm harming the bird since it screeched in my hands. But it calmed down quickly. Thanks though.

I also read that according to Gandhi's quotation, it means if you protect and care for the most defenseless creature, it means it's likely you care and respect everyone around you. That's also true, I only wish I wouldn't have to be disrespected by most in return.. it's just something that happens a lot; people take me as a joke.
I don’t.
