There seem to be many places where they’re disappearing. I’ve never seen them where I live, but when I used to visit family in Louisiana and Georgia during my childhood summers, there were endless numbers. My relatives who still live down there rarely see fireflies now.

@FlowerPetal ... I ... think we're saying similar things? I don't want them to be going away. I think they'll be around for a long while. or at least I hope they will.
@dirge The pesticide companies push and push about mosquitoes and disease, so the governments stupidly start spraying chemicals around to kill them, which kills a LOT of other things too, but everyone just looks away, and suddenly all the fireflies are gone, the frogs die, the birds and fish die. But hay, the pesticide companies make their money.
