I like animals and nature

I enjoy being around pets and bonding with them. We have a black dog named Keke who we believe is part pit bull and maybe black lab. She is very docile and is all bark and no bite. When she jumps it is like she is break dancing and it’s heartwarming and funny to watch. I like other people’s pets too at least the furry and feathery kinds. It makes me happy when an animal shows their guileless affection for me and warms my heart. I feel better after just petting an animal. I also enjoy seeing wildlife in nature. I wish I could gain the trust of wildlife to be close enough to touch them and interact with them closely. I also like farm animals and how generally docile and loveable they are. It breaks my heart some of them are raised for food. I eat meat unfortunately but I could not watch the slaughter of an animal without crying. I had to turn around and block my ears when I heard my cousins slaughtering a pig when I was about fifteen because it was squealing and struggling. They made it as quick as possible but it’s still on my mind all these years later. I think I am going to convert to being a vegetarian later on in life. Or at least a Pesco-vegetarian where I eat fish but not meat. I am ok with having animals raised for wool and i wear sheepskin/lambswool boots and shoes like uggs but apart from that I wear faux fur , wool, and faux shearling. I don’t like killing for sport and I know there are many people who still need animals for their pelts and food. If they are going to be killed eventually at least do it humanely and quickly. There should not be factory farms , fur farms, and trapping them while they linger for days. I wonder why some animals are considered food and others are considered pets. Animals to me just seem so human like sometimes. You look into their eyes and I say animals have souls too. They have a different way of communicating and feeling emotions. Yet I know they feel happiness, sadness, anger, and fear/terror. No they aren’t the same as humans but they are still worthy of having humane treatment and dignity. I believe in causing as little psychological harm to the animals as possible. Obviously ,sometimes you need to defend yourself against wild or even domestic predators and killing them is unavoidable. Alligators and crocodiles come to mind. They freak me out. Also some dogs sometimes pose a high risk of hurting humans especially children. Sometimes some animals are so dangerous they need to be euthanized. It’s better than the rest of their lives in a cage. I know to respect animals you also have to give them up their space especially wild animals. I am amazed by stories of wild animals becoming friends with humans and domestic pets. For example the black wolf Romeo in Juneau Alaska from many years ago was known among the locals for being a lone wolf who mingled with the people and played with their dogs and he never hurt anyone. I feel admiration and gratitude to share our world with magical creatures like animals. Nature is both beautiful and indifferent to suffering. It can be cruel but it also be magical and awe inspiring.
