There Was A Very Small Dead Snake In My Driveway Today, The Head Had Been Chewed Off…

Apparently one of the feral cats found a snake. There are also rattlesnakes in the area and wonder if any of the cats around here have been bitten by them and died. And a dead snake on my driveway in January, what’s up with that.

Most times a cat is faster than a snake, but it probably still happens where one does get bit.

@Virgo79 I didn’t see any live snakes around here for about 2 years. But haven’t been doing yard work either. I have seen them before crawling around the flower beds or around fences. We found a snake skin in a pile of small branches that were cut to use in it late this last spring. I had been telling the boy they needed to be picked up and removed because snakes could hide under them. Told him to use a hoe to move them because snakes like to hide under such things. Found a snake skin instead and it drove my point home. Everyone in my family that got snake bit was doing chores around the yard when it happened.

@cherokeepatti caution is the best prevention.
Good cats or black snakes make it safer.
I can hardly find a black snake around here anymore☹

@Virgo79 Need king snakes, they are aggressive with other snakes and will even eat venomous snakes. They say where king snakes are you probably won’t see venomous snakes because they keep the population down. If you do kill one then you’re going to see venomous snakes in the future.

@Virgo79 We had black snakes on the farm. One got in the chicken house and starting eating the eggs.

@cherokeepatti they will do that, mice rats frogs fish,lol.
But i still like having a few around, i don't have chickens so...
