There Was A Very Small Dead Snake In My Driveway Today, The Head Had Been Chewed Off…

Apparently one of the feral cats found a snake. There are also rattlesnakes in the area and wonder if any of the cats around here have been bitten by them and died. And a dead snake on my driveway in January, what’s up with that.

A dead snake is a good snake. What was he doing out this time of the year though???

@Musicman These grass snakes will crawl out of their hidey holes any time the weather warms up and is sunny so they can go lay in the sun. It has gotten warm enough recently that the Bradford pear tree has buds on it. I have seen a snake in early spring laying right in the middle of the sidewalk here taking a sun bath to warm up. And one time in December one had crawled out close to the covered entry and it got cold too quick and it couldn’t move. Ray picked it up with a stick and threw it up on the hood of the car (we just came home from a restaurant that evening) and it started wiggling around. I guess it got warmed up enough to crawl back and hide somewhere. Some of these cats are hunters and will play with the snakes. They probably don’t like to eat them but will bite their heads off. This is the second one I’ve seen like that.
