My hunting dogs don't mind as much and my husky likes to watch sitting between my son and me. But one of us will put our hands over her ears for the booms.

@devonman we live out in the country and do our own show once a year and do try and control the booms. We have a large cat sanctuary next door and have found out if we put on the show the neighbors come and watch and love it and we don't get the really big booms. Plus we monitor the cats reaction.

Dogs have extremely sensitive hearing, far moreso than ours,so loud explosive sounds are extremely alarming and distressing to them.
