Sober for 5 years this year

This isn’t a sad story. I don't need anyone to feel bad for me. I do appreciate the thought but it isn't necessary

I often read stories about people feeling fragile many years after they quit drinking. Those are the people who we should feel bad for.

I have been delivered from all of that. No temptations, no regrets and no feeling weak. I've enjoyed every second of my freedom from addiction.

Incidentally, I will also be 3 years clean from cocaine at the same time. Another reason to smile.

Celebration time 😊 big time.. I'm glad you did. I wasn't exactly an addict but I was messing with my life a lot and it's about 3-4 years for me that I'm out of all of these things....

Proud of you sir. Your higher power has delivered you. I will be marking my thirteenth year without a drink this year myself.

13 years is a long time. That's a great achievement and an example for so many other people

That's great....it's been over 50 years since I was last 5 years sober.
Proud of you. That kind of peace doesn’t come easy. Also, good to see you.

@mindstruggle
It was the end result of a lot of contemplation 😅

Good to see you too 😚
It warms my heart.
Be very very proud sir. 💐

(We have addiction in my family and secrets are killers. )

You have all the reasons to smile, this is indeed a happy story. Also welcome back, Irish man.

@Younameit
It is the greatest achievement I've made. Even where I am now pales in comparison to figuring that problem out

@Youwereexpectingajoke I’m sure it is, addictions are very difficult to overcome. But you did it. And also achieved many other great things in life. Ok, that’s enough niceness for the day.

If nothing else, my escapades have provided an unlimited source of entertaining stories for the people of Oxford 😅

5 years already? Seems fast but probably not to you! Congrats!
Youwereexpectingajoke · 31-35, M
@JimboSaturn it's been surprisingly good. All my previous attempts to quit were torture but this time was just a blessed release

@Youwereexpectingajoke Sometimes things just click. You mature, you've had enough. Anyway joking aside, congrats my friend, so glad you are happy.
