If you are an alcoholic how many years have you been drinking?

I have seen it happen, everything is fine till it is now and you can no longer just drink a little socially, you never know when that will happen but I have watched it happen to two family members and it hastened their death in both cases. I made the decision not to go that route and am very strict on the amount I drink which is usually none.

I'm a recovered alcoholic. I haven't had a drink since 2013.

It depends. I was sipping out of my parents wine glass since age 8, drinking at parties at age 16, drinking in the pubs at age 18, drinking a lot at age 24. Drinking almost every day since age 31.

Started at about 12, and I'll be 70 in April....so about 58 years.

started at 13 im 74 now
