Alcohol treatment process

Has anyone on here gone through treatment. Have a girl of a deceased friend who took a lyft here, age 31 who is severely alcoholic. Inemployed, no insurance, no money and needs help. Treatment centers don't exist if you don't have money. So what's the process? No medication here. Just ween them off or stop cold turkey? She has tremors and can have seizures if she doesnt drink. Got some hot chocolate and vitamins in her but that's it so far. I put the bottle of vodka she brought out of reach and the last time she begged for a shot i watered it down half way. She downed the first bottle in a day. Found the empty. No idea she brought anything.

I don't know if you are un the US, but the Salvation Army has a program. The MOST IMPORTANT thing you MUST realize is you cannot "fix" her. She and ONLY she has to decide that she is ready and willing to surrender and accept help from PROFESSIONALS. Alcoholism is a progressive disease and and it wants its victims DEAD...You are a good soul to want to help her but, and I say this with the utmost respect, this is WAY ABOVE your pay grade. It doesn't sound like you know her very well. If you want to help her, call your county health department and get a list of programs and shelters, sit her down and gently but firmly tell her she cannot stay with you, give her the list of programs and shelters and wish her the best. She will pull every manipulative card out of the deck (including your friend who passed away) and try to make you think you are the WORST human on earth. Just remember, it's the disease talking. My words may sound cold and harsh but, I have worked with addicts and it doesn't matter the drug, the dialogue is the same. You cannot help a drowning man until he first decides to save himself. Stay strong and best of luck
