Can psychotropic medicine make you dependant on alcohol?

Alcohol can inhibit the medicinal effects of psychotropic drugs and should never be taken together. My guess is you experienced some sort of euphoria when you mixed your medications with alcohol. After awhile the medication stops working and your body requires more alcohol to reach that feeling. Alcohol is a depdessant. Prolonged heavy use can lead to feeling depressed and will ultimately turn into an agitator. Short answer is you consuming high levels of alcohol has made you dependent on alcohol.
