Wouldn't Say That I Was An Alcoholic..

When mum died, just over 8 years ago, I did hit the bottle hard. Very hard. For, like, a couple of months. Ironically, mum died after a heart attack due to her ongoing drink and drugs lifestyle...so what did I do? Yep! Exactly!

Same drink of choice too - vodka and orange - but I got over that, thankfully.

I drink, of course, but not really to excess. Every couple of months or so I might go a little overboard for a night - binge drink - but that's about it.

Besides, I'm getting older! I can't handle the hangovers like I did when I was a teen...

Same. January 14th, 2014, I lost my Mom. And I found the bottle helped me deal with the grief i hept hidden. 10 months later, I faced my grief, and now drink only in moderation. 😔🤗💞

Update. April 22, 2022. My dad passed away and now I have 2 drinks a night, doubles mind you. I think it's not a problem, but my wife worries that majority of nights I drink, I drink alone. Why is that a problem I ask you?

I feel you. I'm not sure if I'm an "alcoholic" per se either, but I started drinking when I was 11 & being that I'm 25 now, it's been a big chunk of my life already. I've had my issues over the years, nights where I did shit I shouldn't have.. but lately I'm in the same boat as you. I have my occasional night where I binge but I'm starting to lose the pleasure in it I used to get

@ChiefJustWalks Life is one of those things that we go through...it's rarely a straight road and there's usually twists, turns and bumps in the road...

Good for you to get to where you are. I think the occasional fun night is quite a valid thing. It's all about not going overboard, isn't it?

😋

@AmberDuponte definitely true & yeah I'd agree 👌 I'll drink at functions, just not alone anymore. I usually don't get hungover but I went overboard recently at a super bowl party & realized my body's getting old on me 😂 I was slumped the whole next day lol

@ChiefJustWalks Awwwww...well, gotta be done every so often!

My wife drinks more than me and, I think, the last time we got hammered was over xmas....hard to do these days with a bouncy little 4 year old around too!

As you, I was hanging the next day!

Ma'am I know exactly what you mean by not being able to handle the hangovers....I have all but quit but on "special Occasions" and I'm not driving I've been known to consume more than my share of Bud Light and Grand Marnier up....Those days are behind me!!!
Yes. It's the hangovers that can offer the cure! Plus age, as you say.

Never been a heavy drinker, more a social drinker. A few mates around a table. Great stuff.

All the best to you.

Good for you, Amber. Don't let it control you.
I think you're doing good.

@arthurca Thanks Art!

It just helped me get through that horrible time.

There's a fitness saying by Shaun T - 'You've got to go down to go up..' and that's the same for life too, not just jumping!

Hi Ma'am....I was hoping we could chat Ma'am?

I used up my lifetime supply of alcohol drinking credits and then some more before my 40s.

Keep an eye on it sunny let it insidiously tell you it is OK if it isn't.
