My suggestion would be to look up Allen Carr. He has a number of books that help with situations like yours. The first one I saw is called "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking". A number of years ago, a friend gave it to my husband and told him to read it. He did so on a one week trip with his father and came home having quit. He hasn't smoked since.
I got a few for friends, and I picked up a couple for drinking. One of them went to a friend who had a big problem. He no longer drinks after reading the book.
Therefore, I always refer people to his books. Hopefully, it can help you as well.
