I Am An Alcoholic
Recovering, I should say, and have hit the 7years mark...
At my worst, which I of course felt was ok, I was having a couple of litres of vodka a day.....or so I thought......until friends and family would tell me that I ‘supplimented’ that with glasses of Brandy and, maybe, some wine later on....
Me? I thought I was just living the life....
Luckily, a diagnosis of being dead before the end of the year was heeded and I straightened myself up....
Was it easy? Was it hard? Extremely easy for me to stop, foolishly, without any support medically....
I’ve had the occasional ‘near miss’ when i’ve found, due to stress, just reaching out for a tumbler full of something....
Which, naturally, freaked me out big time...
But...7 years on the straight and narrow.....
One of the proudest achievements.....
Everyday is a battle.....and everyday you can win the fight.....
