Gradually cutting down before you taper off might be kinder for everyone here.

@HootyTheNightOwl Please excuse me, but I am dealing with a bit of brain fog today. By "kinder", do you mean easier, and by "everyone here", do you mean my daughters and I? I am going to reply with the assumption that this is what you mean. 🙂

Let me proceed with this thought in mind, then. My daughters are all adults, and this is a process we have gone through before, so we knew it would be rough. When we have tried in the past to taper off, this has just resulted in way too many opportunities for relapse. It takes far more willpower to taper off than it does to just get through the process as fast as possible. Cold turkey has always worked best for us when we quit anything. 🙂

I have quit both tobacco and alcohol in the same manner, though I do admit to having tried the tapering off method with both these things before, just doing it cold turkey. I failed, many times, in tapering off, but succeeded in using the cold turkey method.🙂

In theory, it would be kinder to taper off, but in reality ( at least for us) is far kinder to just get through the process and succeed rather than to fail over and over again, finally giving up.🙂

I want to thank you so much for your kind advice. I really am grateful for it, and your advice is wonderful advice for someone with more willpower than I have.🙂

Thank you for taking the time today to add a thoughtful and caring comment to my post. Your time is of great value, and I realize this. I do appreciate you.🙂

@PepsiColaP We do eat fresh fruit after a few months, but at first (for us) it increases the cravings. Thank you for the wonderful idea, though, and I'll tell you those grapes sound amazing about now.🙂
