Setting Unrealistic Goals When You Already Lack Willpower...

I have seen a few posts about addiction today. When I tried to give up smoking I went cold turkey and the problem with that was I could go a few days maybe a week but when someone would piss me off I'd forget that I am trying to quit then light one up and because I had that one cigarette I felt like I had failed and went back to smoking just as many as usual.

Change takes time and small steps. Run before you can walk you are always gonna fall.

I quit cold turkey for a whole year and I got angry about something and started right back up again. I'm still smoking......I'm advised by my psych doc to take it one step at a time as I used to be addicted to alcohol for years. I'm now almost 16 years sober......so baby steps for me. But, you do what you feel is best for you. Only you can decide that.

I quit cold turkey. What I didn't do was have any cigarettes in my home or vehicle.
If you quit but have some still in your possession, it's too easy to have one.

Before you quit, decide what's going to replace smoking... a good habit. If someone upsets you, go exercise or get a chore done.
