So based on how you all talk here…Americans - do you consider fireman to be socialism?

Based on the fact your taxes pay for them, they help other people and their trucks are painted the same colour as a Chinese flag?

First, to be “ inclusive” it is FIREFIGHTER, not fireman/men. I was one for 33 years.
It is as are the police, an essential service, and if you want to say that paying taxes to have them is “ socialism” that’s fine. If you didn’t there would be chaos and mayhem and there would be scorched parts of this nation. Fire is a tremendous force of nature and uncontrolled is devastating.

And it certainly not a question that devalues has the people of the emergency services, more one that questions the sanity of some SWers.
