Do People Listen To What They Say?

I was out golfing the other day after golf was in club diner having a beer and a sandwich with a friend, a friend of his joined us. During the conversation I told him I was retired on my 2nd year and enjoying myself. He said yes I am a retired gay person! What does that actually mean when you think about it.
