We’re evolved from highly territorial, omnivorous apes. Of course we aren’t a peaceful society.
We make a good go of it, but it’s not a natural state for us.

I get your point, and agree, but humans didn't evolve directly from apes. Primates have similar ancestors but evolved separately over many, many millions of years. There were many "Homo" species before Sapiens came to be.
