Teresa is 54 years old and her mother is 80. How many years ago was Teresa's mother, three times her age?

If you can answer this, you're a genius.
Let T be Theresa's age and M be her mother's age. Then M = T + 26.

The question then is when M = 3T, so 3T = T+26.

That makes 2T = 26, and T=13.

Check: at that point her mother was 13+26=39 which is indeed 3 times 13.
Oh wait, not how old was Theresa, but how long ago? That would be 54-13=41.
