Success Is Lonely — Nobody Talks About That

We talk about the grind.
We celebrate the wins.
We admire the promotions, the titles, the visible progress.

But no one really talks about the loneliness that sometimes comes with growth.

When you level up, not everyone comes with you.
Some feel intimidated.
Some feel distant.
Some just don’t understand the new responsibilities you carry.

Sometimes success costs comfort.

Have you ever felt isolated while achieving something big?
Did it change your circle — or your perspective?

Absolutely. Because my interests and goals were so outside the box of the "Norm" especially in high school, I was sort of outcast. Even at work today. I had a goal to work a specific field and paid my dues to get to where I am today. But yes, it's lonely. After people realized what the goal was, they fought to take it from me. And because they let the opportunity pass ..... I've been snubbed.

It's ok though. I've gotten used to being by myself and have found my peace.

@LaLumieri I hear you, and I admire the way you’ve carried yourself through all that.

It takes something rare to stay focused on a vision while the world doubts, resists, or even tries to take it from you.

Being by yourself can feel lonely, but it also builds clarity and self-respect that few ever achieve. And honestly, I’d rather meet someone who knows their own worth than someone trying to fit in.

I’m curious—do you ever miss having someone who truly gets your “outside-the-box” world, or has your peace become enough?

@Abovelimit my peace will always come first now... It is essential especially to find happiness in company. I do miss certain things.and welcome friendships though I tread more carefully now.. But I've always found joy in sanctity ..

@LaLumieri I completely get that—peace isn’t just a preference, it’s a foundation. Without it, even the best company can feel heavy.

I admire how intentional you are—treading carefully doesn’t mean closing off; it means valuing yourself and what you bring to any connection. And there’s something rare about someone who finds joy in sanctity—it shows depth, wisdom, and a sense of calm that’s magnetic.

I’d like to think I could match that pace, someone who respects your space while still sharing moments that feel effortless and genuine.

What does a moment of pure sanctity feel like for you?

@Abovelimit it is completely and utterly euphoric. Sometimes it is silence of physical noise and mental.....sometimes it's loud with music...other times it's a purge of emotions and a good cry
Abovelimit · 51-55, M
@LaLumieri I can offer my shoulder once to cry and can assure that you won't feel sad again
LaLumieri · 51-55, F
@Abovelimit I appreciate and will remember that offer. But it's not always about being sad. And even when it is... Im always amazed at the strength I have to grow from it. It's almost a super power.

@LaLumieri I’d really enjoy exploring more of this with you, beyond the posts and comments. If you’re open, we could continue our conversation privately—just the two of us, no distractions.

I think there’s a lot we could share and discover together.

@Abovelimit I'm sorry but as a rule I do not Private message with someone I just met here. It takes time and connection for that. I've unfortunately had to deal with some characters here and I tread carefully. Also if you are married it's best to keep it on a public forum. I've enjoyed your questions and feedback and look forward to more. But, I stand firm on private messaging.
Abovelimit · 51-55, M
@LaLumieri Absolutely, I completely respect that and your boundaries.

I’ve enjoyed our conversation too and look forward to continuing with you.
LaLumieri · 51-55, F
@Abovelimit thank you for respecting me. I also have enjoyed your deep and meaningful questions. Your topics as well as the writing are eloquently expressed. I look forward to more.

@LaLumieri maybe sneak in a witty remark or two so it’s not all serious. 😏

Looking forward to more of our thoughtful—and occasionally mischievous—chats!.....just kidding
