@Degbeme The dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII. Henry was excommunicated by the Catholic Pope because he wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon (she failed to give him a son and he needed a male heir) so he passed the Act of Supremacy in 1534. This enabled him to break up the monasteries, take the land and wealth away from the church and reward loyal nobles with confiscated lands and so ensuring their support for protestantism and his marriage to Anne Boleyn.
