Boobook Owl
Its name is derived from its two-tone boo-book call.
The smallest owl on the Australian mainland, it is 27 to 36 cm 10.5" to 14" tall.
Boobooks are found all over Australia except in the deserts and Tasmania. Boobook generally preys on mice, insects, particularly nocturnal beetles and moths, and birds the size of a house sparrow.
