I just noticed, we had a table cloth exactly like this and we brought it to Brazil during our years as a missionary family. My mom used it for many years. My dad loved the decorations and my mom did special cooking and baking! Some great memories. For many years, we were the only house in town with a Christmas tree since they didn't know about those traditions yet!
@Carazaa As a nation 98% Roman Catholic, they celebrated it AS Christ's birth but Mary was also Holy since she gave birth to Him,. They took the line, "Blessed art thou among women" of Luke 1 very religiously and added, "Mary the mother of God, Mary the mother of us all" to their prosessiions in "Holy Week". Most of the people were poor back then (70's) so life was very simple then. Their gifts were very simple or hand made. They took pride in their work. Most were simple down to earth people hospital people who's yearly income was equal to a monthly income in America. Like all cultures, they were very serious their traditions. Christmas was more of a spiritual Holliday than a commercial one as it has become in America!
