I Live In An Apartment

I moved in 2 days ago. So far, I've lost my hair tie and I didn't pack any others, so I'm using a fabric hair band instead to make my ponytail. Also, I discovered that I can't keep food waste in my room's trash can because it attracts ants. And it's really echo-y in here in my room. But on the bright side, I learned that my commute to school this fall will be really short and taking the bus to campus is really easy!

There's a good side to your life. That's a good thing.
1) hair ties are easily replaced and you can let your hair roots relax until you get new ones. Hair roots like down time.
2) keeping food waste around isn't a great idea in any apartment building. It can attract a lot worse than ants. Like cockroaches and filth flies.
3) that echo-y sound in your room will soon disappear as you begin to add things to your decor. Pictures, posters, throw pillows, books, all absorb sound, so it won't be long before you don't feel as though you're living in a cave.

Congratulations on your apartment, college, new life. Be happy, do well. My finger are crossed for you. Wishing you great times and a wonderful time in this new place.

Thank you! But I will note that I get distracted when my hair is in my face, so I do need a hair tie. But I always keep my ponytail loose as to not strangle my hair. And you raise a good point about food. I'll try my best to take trash out often. And I'll only be here for three months, so I don't feel like it's necessary to have a lot since I'll have to pack it all up again soon. And I see decor more as clutter. I prefer having less stuff. I think I'll get used to the echos though.

Okay. Enjoy. Maybe just a few pillows. Or you could, as you said, get used to it. After all, it's a short time and you'll be in school much of the time.

Put small piece of scotch tape on bottom of your door so you will know if someone's been in there

Well I am saying be careful because maintenance land lord prior tenants may have key and steal.

Well, I live in a high-end neighborhood with a lot of security, so I don't think I have to worry about that here. Also, I hardly have any expensive stuff. I have some cash, but I have that hidden away.

Congratulations on new place. Being on your own for the first time is the toughest, but you will learn a lot. 😀

Thanks! Well, my mom is paying my rent, but yeah, I've never been this independent before, so this will be quite an experience!

Get more furniture or hang things on the wall to avoid echo.

I'll only be here for 3 months, so I can't buy extra furniture since I'll have nowhere to keep it after I move out.

Maybe you can get some rugs so the echoing won't be so loud..
hiddenkitty · 26-30, F
I don't know if I feel like buying rugs. But I have extra towels, so maybe I can use those as rugs.
