I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings

Memory is real. Memories exist. But they don't in any way prove that this thing we call "the past" is actually real. Memory provides the facility of reflection, the application of context. Without it, my experiences would have no contextual or qualitative meaning unto themselves, and the sense that I have a story within my existence would be lost. But each and every time we access our memory, we do so now. So we're never in the past at all. Never have been, never will be. The person you remember yourself to be 5 years ago is not the same person who's accessing the memory of you - and even this person from 5 years ago was locked into the timeless now, the same timeless now where the memory is being accessed from.

At every given point in your life, you give yourself a dreamt up history and potential future, so past and future are never singular concepts at all. They are based entirely on perspective and convenience. If I didn't believe that I was once a kid who grew up and went to school, and then later got a job, for example, my adult life - where I am now - would be meaningless without this order of events to weave together retroactively. At least, this is the case in linear A-B-C time where we believe ourselves to be a story in our minds.

To say that now is all there is, is of course true - but to really get it on a deep, fundamental level is reality-altering. When you step outside of linear time, you don't so much remember things with your memory, you remember them with your conscious awareness - which is rooted into the timeless now at any and all moments of existence. Technically speaking, here and now are not places or times. They are actually modalities of consciousness - properties of it. Consciousness can't be experienced anywhere else but here and now - wherever or whatever you recognise here and now to represent to you. It could be sat down at your computer, driving to work, listening to music... whatever. Wherever you are, is completely where you are, and whatever time it is, you can bet it's now - and now is without time...

Now is the perfect state to be in to see more clearly, and to reflect more clearly too. Thanks for sharing some thoughts which can help clear up the fog. 👍☺
