I Am a Daughter of a Mentally Ill Mom

I know addiction is a painful disease to have and that nobody ever asks for it, but I also remember all the ways she hurt me while under the influence, all the times she sabotaged our efforts to help her, and how damn smug she gets whenever she manages to stay sober for more than 30 days.

@olderguy2016 I do what I can. I also walk with a bit of a limp—it’s gotten better with time, and I’ve gotten better at hiding it, but it’s still there—from one of the times she drove me drunk to school and hit another car.
