We did cross country just once a year, thank goodness. Not in bare feet, because the course we took is rocky. We would come back covered in mud and frozen - I remember struggling to untie my laces or the buttons on my shirt. Then all of us girls would huddle for sheer relief in the showers, which were probably lukewarm, but were blissful to our shivering bodies 馃槦
