I Absolutely Love My Kids

I would give my life for them. What parent wouldn’t. Things have been tough at home lately, especially between my husband and our youngest. They got into a heated argument earlier, my son told his dad he loved him as a father but couldnt stand him as a person. What do you say to that? What do you say to your son who feels guilty for not being able to pin point what it is exact that he doesnt like about him. My heart breaks for him.

What do you say when your son says to you, Mom, I don’t want to be here anymore. I would have already been gone if it wasnt for you. As much as I wanted to blurt it out, I know its not right. I just wanted to say you are why I stay.

Pick a day or weekend, before school starts, where you two can have time alone. I'm proud of your son for manning up and letting his father know the reality of his son. It doesn't mean its not fixable. Your son feels guilty for saying it to his dad. Which means he has your heart. He knows it had to be said, but feels guilty he said it. To bad Dad and son can't talk it out over a beer in the back yard... I know the age. Take your son to a cowboys game. Or a day at Magic mountain. Someplace where you and he can erase the world temporarily, and see the vividness of you two... I'm sorry for both of you, and the mutual pain. And possibly mutual feelings, you do not say...

Yes I know it is hard to hear those things. My son is 14 and has been suspended for school for having weed. So I ground him and take away his phone, tablet, xbox and now he is pissed at me and says he hates me. Very hard thing for a dad to hear. I told him that my dad would have beat the crap out of me and grounded me for a month and that I didnt want to to that to him. I sometimes feel like I can not win.

@TxBtrflyX2 oh he is at that age. I wouldn't worry to much

@TxBtrflyX2 Actually, that's the age. I think it's an evolutionary thing that drives boys at that age to create their own "tribe", seek their fortune, whatever. It's why I left home at 17 and never looked back.

I have been sick to my stomach ever since. To make matters worse, my son feels guilty. HE feels guilty! Like he has done something wrong. @Pinkstarburst
