I Believe In Change

A Life of Change Is Why I Can Believe In Change...
I have been very fortunate in my life. I have watched schools being intergrated. I have watched the Black people in the South win the right to use their right to vote by pain of death. I remember the day I could eat in a Five & Dime store just like anyone else in a certain area of town and they could not say...we don't serve coloureds in here, get out.
I saw Equal Opportunity measures finally give me and others the same right to a job as any other race. I saw black people and women become Mayors, Governors, and Senatores. Now, I see a Black man become President. I saw women run countries not as queens or princesses but as prime ministers and dictators. I saw a man fight from a jail cell in South Africa and become President - Mandella.
I see women with the same legal rights as men. I see women with their own businesses, homes, and families. I see men of all races take on larger roles as fathers & husbands in a way they did not do just 40 years ago. I see men who actually care about what their mates are going through and what their mates want. I see single fathers really try to be real dads.
I see people actually doing things for our amimal and plant kingdoms today, things they would not have done 40 years ago.
I see the efforts all over the world for the environment, healthcare, healthy living, and just the care of other human beings. I saw how Americans and other countries, including Cuba pulled together after 9/11, Katrina, Rita, Sunamis' and the other elemental holocasts we and the world have been through.
Even though I worry if we are going to work enough fast enough to save our world I still believe we will.
My mother used to say "If God sees we still love the Earth he will help us child, that's why he always sends a rainbow to us. To remind of us of his promise not to destroy the Earth again. And, we should promise him not to destroy it either.
We have to find enough love in ourselves to love the Earth. Only people who don't care about their own life could so foolishly keep destroying the only place we have to live. Sooner or later we just have to find a way to get along with each other so we can stop destroying world. To me there can be only ONE as they say and that is the Creator. So the rest is just fools play, you know the power junkies, who in the end have to turn over that power to someone else.
So I keep believing because I've seen more change for the good than the bad. I've also seen what happens when good people stop fighting for what is good and right ... deregulation and disasters. It is all just a lesson in the end. I think we have all learned quite a bit this past 40 to 50 years. I still reuse, recycle, fight the fight, and pray everyday all because...
I'm Still Believing....
Peace and Much Love to you all.
Singer1960 if you did not fear during the Bush years, Bush 1 & 2, then why would you worry now? We were so close to the world rising up against us with this last Bush Presidency, it wasn't funny. Do you know that our Allies sighed a breath of relief that it was Bushs' time to leave - Our ALLIES actually wanted Bush out and they did not support a MCCain presidency either.

We do not hold the worlds' trust or respect anymore do to Gitmo and not going after Bin Laden when everyone knows where he is... No I do not fear Obama - what I do fear are the people out there who cannot see how just his presence has calmed the political world. He is not the second coming as some people want to call him.

He is just a cool headed, Black family man, who has the savvy to get us moving again. With all the lies and total disregard for the American family of this last 8 year presidential deregulating failure... why would someone who is telling the truth bother you?

Obama did not say he could change everything over night. He said it might even take more than his term/s in office and another president to get this country back on track. He is not a King - he cannot make Congress do everything he says. He said he was going to Washington to bring about change and he needed all the help could get...nothing scary about that. What actually scares you?? Could you be more specific? If I am missing something I would like some cold hard facts to back it up, okay?

Peace and Much Love to You.
Thanks for the Love, ELFINSONG, it is greatly appreciated.

Singer1960, it is important for a number of reasons. America considers you Black by your father, your skin color, and what amount of black blood you have in you. (although how that is figured and why has always puzzled me)
Also, given the true racial climate in America, the event of a Black American becoming President has happened and no one including and especially the Black race ever expected it to happen no matter who his mother might have been.
And, why do you need to keep your gun near?? Do you think Black people are going to come take what you have? The Reagan and both Bush presidencies have already taken everything you had and your future. Most Black people want the same things as any other American. The right to a decent free and sober life, a good education for their children, and the right to determine a bright future for themselves through their own efforts. Basic stuff, just like you. They are not looking to try to bring any harm to you.

I agree with ELFINSONG. Maybe you should talk to someone about this paranoid complex you seem to be cultivating. I am really afraid for you. Try relaxing more often and doing things that let you stimulate a kinder personal environment for yourself.

Peace and Much Love to you all.
grits4ever, what can I say? Thank you is simply not enough. I believe you are one of those special spirits sent to keep me on the path. I have met some very good spirits on EP, thanks for sharing. It can get lonely out here sometimes.

I have a belief that Heaven is really our home and we all go back there when we die. I do not believe in Hell because Christ said we would surely die if we did not love one another as he had loved us, not go somewhere to burn forever, thats' not dead that is torture. I do not believe our Creator wants or needs to see that... But, I believe for those of us do not get back to Heaven or home as I call it, we experience total death. It is like we never existed.

What you used to tell your children brought tears to my eyes. It was showing me that what I believe about Home (Heaven)is already in the hearts of many souls on Earth. I'm Still Believing...

Peace and Much Love to you and yours.

WHY is it so important for people to keep bringing up that Obama is a Black man...do we forget that his mother was white....Me I do not give a hill of beans how much melatonin he has in his body...It is his politics that I fear...He is wanting us all to rely on the government for our welfare...The food that we eat....The roof over our heads...Not on our own hard work...Government needs to keep there heads and hands off what we need to live...Government regulation has and will conitue to make all stupid....I am sorry for those that have lost their homes...But it was them that signed on the dotted line...With out thinking of the what if....And that is where we are now...The what if that people did not think about...And others will make use of it....I only wish that I had the money...I would be one of those that now owned their own home....I do not have a glass ball to look into...So uintil I get the power to see what there is to come...I will keep my gun close and fear....but hope for what is to be.....

livingwell we need more who beleive in their hearts as you and your mother

"If God sees we still love the Earth he will help us child, that's why he always sends a rainbow to us. To remind of us of his promise not to destroy the Earth again. And, we should promise him not to destroy it either."

I used to tell my children when they were small:
God makes us all different in so many ways becasue we have to learn to love and see each other as he does so that we can enjoy and understand the true meaning of being in heaven with him one day. If we can't do it here on earth we will not be able to do it there with him.

But I fear for the change that will come of our great nation...Not because of the color of a mans skin....but for the politics that he spouts....We need to be strong...but I fear that this man will weaken us...And during thime time of history...that is not a change for the better...
YAAAAY, it is good when people can rtill believe in CHANGE!!!
