Sadly, countless ancient Hindu temples in once Hindu majority Afghanistan and Pakistan were destroyed by Islamic invaders.

Indian Hindus still have our ancient temples because my ancestors fought and died against Islamic invaders to protect their heritage.

Hindu tribes who lived in Afghanistan were killed,raped and forced to forsake their Vedic roots by Islamic Invaders.
A lot of Brave Afgan Hindus have fought and died against Arabic Islam.
After generations of brainwashing by Quran and Arabs, most of those converted Hindu tribe were forced to serve,spread and defend Arabic Islam at all cost.
The same can be said for Pakistani Muslims.

Arabic Islam have succeeded in destroying Hinduism in Hindu majority Afghanistan,Pakistan and Bangladesh.

@LoneKnight Was Hinduism not once spread to what is now Indonesia by (I think) the Chola Empire?

@helensusanswift It was spread to some regions in Burma,Malaysia and Indonesia by Chola empire.
Majority of Indonesians in Bali region still practice Hinduism.

@LoneKnight As far as I am aware (and I could be wrong) the only colonial genocide that any of the four nations of Britain were involved in was in tasmania where the indigenous nations were wiped out. I know there was cultural genocide in Scotland when the native Gaelic culture was squashed. I know that under the Empire, railways, democratic government, education and health was all improved, small local wars curbed and practises such as slavery, human sacrifice, suttee and so on ended.

@LoneKnight There is not much colonial history taught in schools at all - at least not in my experience.
It seems that Indian teachers offer a different interpretation of suttee (and probably other examples) than British.
I suppose the latest surge of Hindu nationalism will try to show the British as being all-evil and full of atrocities. Such seems to be one of the negative aspects of nationalism wherever it occurs.

@LoneKnight Interesting; I wonder what the context was. Yesterday I was reading about the Ashanti Empire in Africa, with its capital at Kumasi and a culture based on slavery and human sacrifice - both of which the evil British ended or tried to end.
As they ended or tried to end suttee and thugee in the hodge-podge of rival states that later became India -not to mention piracy and the Pindaris. That was before they introduced railways, hospitals, a form of democracy, education and some form of justice system. They certainly were not perfect and tapped into the local racism, allowed the caste system to continue and the abuses of the local rajas etc to continue. I doubt any empire is ever looked on favourably by the people it controls- was the Chola Empire welcomed when it spread furth of India? Or the Sikh Empire?

@helensusanswift Chola empire didn't commit genocide.That is the reason why there are still Hindus from other tribes in south east Asia.
Besides, Hinduism don't threaten people who leave with hell or murder.
They can leave anytime they want.
As for hospitals, we Hindus had our own ayurvedic practice.A lot of other colonized tribes have their own medicine practitioners.

I don't know enough about the Chola empire to argue - I'd like to believe that it was benevolent but given the history of every other empire in the world, I rather doubt it.
I think it was climate conditions that starved people to death - and outdated farming methods that failed to provide sufficient food for a population too large for the available land.
As for human sacrifice in Africa - proven fact I'm afraid, as is the prevalence of slavery that the evil British tried to end.
Did British rule in the sub continent not stop all the hundreds of small nations fighting each other? Hindus slaughtering Hindus as well as Moslems slaughtering Hindus and Sikhs?

Genocide seems to be what the Hindu mobs are trying to do to the Moslems in Delhi just now. I can't recall any such British mobs attacking ordinary Indians.
What was the immediate result of the British leaving the Indian sub continent? About a million people killed in religious riots and then wars between Pakistan and India? Something like that.
