Religion is just bunch of rules and protocols rather than beliefs and spirituality. The connection between You and the universe is something unique. We don't need a third entity like religion or preachers to make the connection. As you said you feel the connection on your own way. That is it. Never fall into the trap of religion since you have already managed to come out.

I guess they fear being killed as apostate if they leave islam.You had the courage to leave a religion or an ideology that was contrary to your nature and personal beliefs.You will find the religion or creed that fits with your own spititual beliefs and convictions.

You have learned the first truth about God. He doesn't need fear to control us. Using fear to control someone is the surest sign that they are weak...not strong. The second truth is that God doesn't even want to control us. He just wants to teach and instruct. Whether we listen and learn is up to us.

I'm so glad you did. That took bravery. I am really a lot like you. I believe in God but I'm not sure about my religion. I personally cannot believe that God would condemn somebody and say it's ok to kill in the name of religion. I think he personally cares about each and everyone of us. He doesn't want to see us kill each other. We are his children. Why would he want us to kill each other.

You're correct, there are many different "gods" in the world. But on closer inspection you'll find that most of these gods are just people's imagination (meaning they made them up).
