There is no harm in them asking, politely, no different from asking a girl out if you're hetero, once they've been told no thanks, they should just move on. Most people don't wear their sexual orientation so it's obvious but if you're not interested they should accept a no thank you.

Well, no one can "convert" anyone, right? We are who we are. But yeah. I've had men go with the "You just don't know it" thing before. And it kind of fires me up and I have zero problem with telling them why. Actually became a really close friend of someone who pulled that. Ended up being the best man in my wedding. Just had to get past the nonsense.
