I Have Ibs

So I have IBS, I have had it for quite some time but I wasn't diagnosed, I've actually been diagnosed quite recently. It started off with really bad gas, I've always struggled with it and suffered pain due to trapped wind. I've always suffered stomach cramps For no apparent reasons which have now been explained. It started when my mother was told she had it and then she started wondering if I could have it because before this we didn't really know what IBS is.

It's quite a struggle to have IBS because it is different for every person, and it doesn't impact me at every single minute of the day, I can have flare ups or relapses (where it doesn't bother me at all) and then it can hit hard at any moment. There is no cure for IBS so I have to deal with and I have to fight it so it won't control my life

I have it too. Wind is my main symptom! It can cause awful problems and affect my daily life. Good to see you talk about it.

I used to be really ashamed of it, and I still can find it embarrassing, but at the end of the day it's a medical condition that I find hard to deal with, so if it happens there isn't much I can do about it ☺️

IBS is usually food allergies.
Wheat is usually a culprit.

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: I'm not sure that has been proven? Many people change their diet and it helps and some people do exclusion diets which may or may not help. You can be intolerant and allergic to wheat but they are different even if similar symptoms.

@amethyst1: I said usually. But a lot of people say their IBS symptoms ease up when they cut out wheat.

Nothing can be done for it? That sucks! So sorry
randompi · 22-25, F
Yeah, I have to limit the unhealthy foods a lot, which is a bit frustrating as I am such a fussy eater

@randompi: I guess once you find something that helps you will just have to stick with it. Wishing you the best of luck in your search.

Thank you

I have it too. It's not fun, I noticed it really flares up around my cycle. Dealing with it all, getting exhausteda lot, fear of flareups at work, skipping meals... sucks

All you can do is control your diet, but even that doesn't always help. Good luck pi, hope it gets better for you :)

Thanks and I keep a good diary so I can identify what triggers it
SW-User
@randompi: yeah then you can at least avoid that food.

Go vegan. Lots of things can be cured/ relieved with the foods we eat.
Diabetes, acne etc are fixable with food

@randompi: Why are you tasting coins? 😂
randompi · 22-25, F
Well, I've never put money in my mouth directly, but I've had money in my hands and then if I have eaten anything afterwards and the taste has been on my hands I can taste it

@randompi: oh okay, got cha!

I already keep a food diary so I can identify the foods that trigger it, and I know about my food allergies
