Can people "fall in hate" instead of falling in love?

Have you ever met someone who hates you within seconds/minutes of knowing you and you react exactly the same to him/her?

This happened to me and my new housemate. It was hate at first sight. We almost came to blows recently. Now we are feeling a bit more civilized but our emotional reactions to each other are the same. We are planning on a duel with water pistols loaded with ice water. We might video it; if we do, I'll post it here.
