I Love My Mom
I spent a good morning with Mom. I wanted to bring her out for a meal and today I finally found the time to do it. She was happy. Sometimes I think how our roles have changed. When I was growing up and Mom mentioned going out, I was always excited and full of anticipation. We did not go out often. I remember the fights she had with my father for not taking the family out. Many a times, Mom would take me and Sis on a long bus ride to see Granny. We loved taking the double-decker bus.
Now I take Mom out for meals. She would tell the boy to be filial and stand on his own two feet and bring me out for meals when he is a grown man. She is seventy-eight this year. She still talks about our one year in HK twelve years ago when I was in school and she and the boy had to hide in a dessert shop when a typhoon was brewing outside.
Days like today don't happen often. Work takes so much from me. I don't want to lose precious moments with my loved ones.
