Is it really that hard to become a nurse?

Has anyone here gone to nursing school in the US? How bad is it? I'm done some work as a medical assistant. I'm thinking about nursing school.

My best friend went to nursing school in the US. It took a lot of time and effort. It was grueling, but worth it.
