You can only vote on one answer.
My boyfriend is the leader of the band which I sang in, but recently he removed me from the position of vocalist, because from a certain moment my diction became very bad and I can't pronounce all words properly. I think he is wrong and diction is not the main thing. What do you think? It's his idea to create a poll. He said that if the result was in my favour, he would consider it.

The poll's closed, decided not to sing anymore
BlueVeins · 22-25
@OlgaAlexeenko Hey, maybe you just need practice. 🥺
OlgaAlexeenko · 26-30, F
@BlueVeins No, it was decided a long time ago, I just wanted to write here that the poll is closed. It's better not to sing when the diction gets worse and worse. I will play guitar and keyboards, and my friend will be the vocalist.

@OlgaAlexeenko Olya, it's absolutely right decision. Do what you can do properly. And you should seriously improve your guitar playing because it's really not so good for now

I think it has a lot to do with how important the meaning of the lyric is. For instance I like to listen to music from the Cape Verde islands, where the language is quite a polyglot of Spanish Italian Portuguese and some African. I do understand most of it yet I find it preciously beautiful on the other hand if the precision of the lyric is important then perhaps dressing diction is a good idea

Many singers have some kind of problems with pronunciation or other issues it’s often not an issue as it becomes part of the way they are unique.
The ones that should stop are the tone deaf ones that think they can sing and sound like a bag of cats screaming
Sueisright · 31-35, F
And of course you can always set your own band up and see who becomes successful You or him

It was my idea to create this poll but I still can put a vote. 2nd of course

@and1993 😪

@OlgaAlexeenko Don't cry baldie it's not a problem at all)
You should be allowed to sing you are his gf it would be rude as heck for him to kick you out of the band
OlgaAlexeenko · 26-30, F
Thanks all! We agreed that I'll be allowed to perform some backing vocals in few tracks. So I still can perform on stage at least for some time. It's better than nothing.
Sueisright · 31-35, F
@OlgaAlexeenko I think a great plan. Don’t let others stop your dream
Sueisright · 31-35, F
@OlgaAlexeenko also as I said before the reality is most singers that are good and last have a unique style and that is usually within there voice so go for it
OlgaAlexeenko · 26-30, F
@Sueisright I agree) And anyway I can stay gummy and play instrumental music, it's not a bad way to express myself.
OlgaAlexeenko · 26-30, F
He looks at the results and says "That's what I said. You can sing for your friends at home but you'll never be a lead singer in our band again". I asked him to wait for results till the end of the week. I hope you'll support me😔

Look up "singing diction" all kinds of stuff on it as well as the importance.

Must say though certain singers wouldn't be where they are at without an accent! Accent does matter!

He considers it a flaw maybe but I like flaws in music sometimes just depends..
OlgaAlexeenko · 26-30, F
@SW-User The problem is that I lisp...
SW-User
@OlgaAlexeenko well a singer's voice is either good or not mine isn't good but I can sing on key. Try to work out the lisp as much and sing it like you mean it 🙂
OlgaAlexeenko · 26-30, F
Judging by the results, I don't have chance to be singer again at all😔
Nighttalker · 56-60, M
Wouldn’t it be better to post a video of you singing? Idk....
