Gym rats? What should I do?

I have been going to the gym everyday now for two weeks. I am so sore and I hurt everywhere. Should I push through the pain or take a day off?

If you're hurting vs pleasantly sore, you need a day to recover.

Working the same muscles every day isn't good.

Seriously, it would be a good investment to spend a bit of time with a trainer who can advise you on the best way to workout.

I'm in the gym almost every day, but I vary my workouts from day to day.

Thank you everyone. The pain is no longer enjoyable or giving me the feeling of accomplishment. I will take a couple days off.

Once again I want to thank everyone for their supportive advice. This is what SW is all about.

If you're lifting 4 days a week is more than enough. You can workout through soreness (DOMS) but it makes it harder for you to know if you're going to get injured.

You might do say a 40 minute low impact cardio every other day (and do nothing else) to reduce the negative side effects.

Recovery matters.

You need a day off. You probably shouldn't work out more than 6 days a week. The body needs rest to repair.
don't hurt yourself...build slowly. The sore and hurt is lactic acid. You'll work it out of your system
take a few days off from the gym and go outside for a light cardio or something.

Take a day off and honestly, consider investing in BCAAs, to me it boosts energy and helps with recovery. Also, use one of those foam rollers, it helps.
Go a little lighter if you need to. It won't last forever..

@Archiesgirl: BCAAS?

@CanarysCry: they carry this brand at GNC and surprisingly, Walmart. I order mine online, it's from a brand called Evolutuon.
