I Am Different and Proud [Being Different]

Do you feel your greatest sense of pride in your town/city, State/Province, or Country?
JustNik · 51-55, F
I don’t think I ever feel proud exactly about any of it. I like the city I live in. They do a decent job and making it a decent place to live. Nothing wrong with my state that I can see. My country needs some work, but so does every other one and I still feel lucky to have grown up here. I guess overall I feel fortunate rather than proud. 🤷‍♀️

@JustNik I suppose nowhere is perfect, but compared to other places, it doesn't seem so bad : )

No. I haven't for many many years. I see leftist policies destroying a free and honest people.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@NewKidInTown A charter or rights that protects the government and not the people. Ever increasing intrusion into people's personal lives.
NewKidInTown · 51-55, M
@hippyjoe1955 I suppose there is a fine line between too much government interference and having one that steps in to benefit the country as a whole. You will never get an entire population to agree in a democratic society
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@NewKidInTown Nor should you. But in Canada the population was never consulted on the Charter of Rights. It was imposed unilaterally by the government of the day.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
I like my country but i have made no contribution to be proud of.
NewKidInTown · 51-55, M
@Flenflyys It's never too late. You're still young. And I'm sure you have contributed in ways you are not aware of.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
There was, but when a country thinks starts to regress im not sure what to think lol
NewKidInTown · 51-55, M
@Flenflyys Maybe be the conduit for change, if you don't see something you don't like and care enough to stay.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
Not the country but certain policies, the obvious one being free healthcare for everybody. Except the current government are trying to remove this.
NewKidInTown · 51-55, M
@GeniUs If it's something the people want, then they will have to fight for it
GeniUs · 56-60, M
They will but the Health Secretary the aptly named Jeremy Hunt (have you ever come across rhyming slang?) Has already got away with 'increasing' junior doctors weekly wages but insisted they had to do more hours, so reducing the hourly wage to a level akin to shop assistants, there was uproar about this for a year or so but it still went through.

[c=#800055]yes, state and country.
Not perfect but I love em. [/c]
NewKidInTown · 51-55, M

I can't say I'm proud of my country but it's my home and I think I'm tied to it more than I'd like to acknowledge. I already know it would be hard to leave if I had to.
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
Continent?
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
@NewKidInTown LOL, but it's true. I'm not proud of living in my hometown or country etc, but it's pretty cool living in Europe imho.
And about the planet I don't know, as human race we did a mess with this planet, so maybe staying at the continent-level, is more something about our culture and background...
NewKidInTown · 51-55, M
@Sharky86 There's good and bad in everything. I suppose it comes to how much one can tolerate and appreciate.
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
@NewKidInTown That's true. But I already have too much shit to tolerate in my life, so I'm not so hopeful about humanity...
My city; although there are some things that I would change, its beauty and character cannot be denied.
NewKidInTown · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard It's wonderful when you can travel and visit many wonderful cities and countries, and still love your own, flaws and all.

@CallmeHopelessNotRomantic ??? I was asking if you felt it was time to leave for greener pastures. It wasn't an insult.
@NewKidInTown Please forgive me. I sent you a message. I'm sorry I misunderstood.
