To those who have tracked miles
in rain and mud, in brutal heat or cold,
who have slept with one eye open
fighting both creature and man.

For those who have seen and done
things most cannot fathom
so that you and I won't have to.
For those who stand strong for the weak.

For those who fight the battles
each night so many others may enjoy
their peaceful nights.
For those whom freedom was not free.

For those who step toward danger
head on again and again
for our liberties they defend.
