I Am Not Religious

[c=#7700B2]so in the New Testament there is a part where it basically says they humans are gods clay, he moulded half of us to be blessed by him and forgiven and the other half to be damned no matter what..

How can people try claiming that God is all loving? The New Testament clearly says other wise..

Half the population are damned to hell just because he wanted it that way..

Your God isn't all loving, he is just a massive douche [/c]

Out of interest, where in the New Testament does it say that?

@PlumBerries ok then can we just be friends 🙂 and keep our religious opinions to ourselves.

[c=#7700B2]lol I'm not arguing with you or anything like that and happy to keep religious opinions to ourselves but you make that difficult when you comment on a religious post that I made and ask why I care? See my point lol[/c]

You’ve said a number of times that religious people can’t pick and choose what to believe in The Bible. Why?

You meet someone and fall in love, are you saying that you must love every aspect of that person?

Maybe you don’t like the way they chew their food. Maybe you don’t like their feet. Maybe you don’t like the way they behave in certain circumstances. And yet, you still love that person and decide to spend the rest of your life with them.

What’s the difference between the way you love that person and the way a religious person loves their god?

And then there’s the pragmatic element of The Bible. We know that it’s a compendium of many different scripts. We know that these scripts (aka scripture) was written by a multitude of authors, many of whom are unknown. We know that this scripture was written over a time span of hundreds of years (possibly more than a thousand years). We know that this scripture was written in at least four languages, one of which has no modern counterpart. And yet you insist that every religious person must accept every single word as written. Meanwhile, scholars have been pouring over this scripture for more than two thousand years.

I’m sorry but, in my experience, the only people who insist that one can’t pick and choose what to believe, are religious zealots and those who seek to deride religion without understanding anything about it.

@gregloa I don't care about religion but I have curiosity in people who blindly follow a religion and who pick and choose what parts they obey.. In my eyes, religion is just a massive cult and that aspect of it interests me

Do you normally show your interest by misrepresenting and denigrating the thing that you’re supposedly interested in?

I am fairly religious, but not devoutly religious. Mostly because I feel like that God is not very "pro-active". Also, to me, religion has too many regulations like, don't do this, don't say that, don't believe in that, you can only believe in this, and etc.

Also, why does he always want praise, to me that seems somewhat selfish and narcissistic.

To me, I also see religion as a cause of narrow-mindedness.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]god wants lots of praise because man made up God for people to be scared into following mans law.. That is why the bible changes with time, they have to update it and tweak it so people don't outgrow it and think it is stupid.. Like how women are not allowed to have short hair or they get stoned[/c]

@PlumBerries Yes, there are many things that I disagree with in reference to religion, mainly Christianity. I believe that religion should be about finding inner balance and harmony, like Taoism or Confucianism. To me, the monotheistic religions see perceive the World as Black and White. They have no concept of grey or middle ground.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]because they were written in ancient times. Humans have evolved since and see the world differently to those during that time[/c]
A human wrote that, not god...
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]because there is no God.. It is all made up[/c]
xSharp · 31-35, M
the religious would argue that god just mind controlled all those authors hundreds of years apart from each other in order to create the final product and then repeated the process to change a few things because all powerful and all knowing means you can change your mind about unchangeable cosmic rules whenever you want lol XD
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]see this is why religion is crap.. People pick and choose what they want to believe[/c]
WizzBitt · 41-45, M
I dont think it was referring to half the population in specific. I think it was referring more to each individual human being possessing both traits, and depending on which one we feed, thats the direction we would end up in.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]I guess it was all written for open interpretation .. bible isn't clear cut, which makes no sense to me but easier to twist it around that way[/c]
meemo70 · 51-55, M
I am strictly religious when it comes to faith and beliefs.. However, I do commit sins though, so I'm not religious in that sense!
