I Work In Retail

If you work in retail please be aware of service dog LAW in the us. You can ask.
1:is that a service dog?
2: what tasks does the dog provide?

However please ! Please! Please! Remove the fakes!!! If the dog is nipping, growling, barking, lunging, not walk-in on a leach as intended, sitting in a cart, being carried (unless hot pavement)
KICK THEM OUT
The ADA says that you can!
Also don’t ask for papers they don’t exist. If someone offers you some then are full of crap.

Good to know thanks! I work in the meat Department and it drives me crazy when people bring their dogs in And they don’t behave. Management tells us to do nothing

In most places you're required to have a license or something similar with a service dog just in case.

we so mind though. Many people cannot afford what these fake license companies charge. So it makes it an unfair to those who aren’t financially able. Where a drs not can even be gotten at a clinic through the early department. The letter doesn’t even need to be that detailed. A simple my patient requires a service dog with a signature is enough. I just don’t care if people know what my disability is lol.

@Soramarie That's what I meant. Upon receiving the service animal you'd be handed a little plastic license, doesn't have to say your condition. People will always counterfeit everything though.

in a way where it’s “free” and accessible by all that’s fine. The fake companies now charge $100+
Some idiot got to bring her "Service Animal" a fucking [big]MINIATURE HORSE![/big] On Board a Commercial Airplane!!!
And it stood in front of her the entire trip!
I'm not certain you can ask what the dog provides as that seems like it'd be covered by hippa.

@stound per the ADA law you can. Go to ADA.gov service dogs. Literally google it or you’ll have to read the entire thing. Asking what tasks the dog preform is perfectly ok. Asking what disabilities the dog help with is not. Like in my case I say he is a mobility dog.
