I Need a New Job

I’ve been struggling at work for the last year. I was hired to do one thing and now my position as changed into something I don’t enjoy and is really not my thing. I’m constantly frustrated, feel unappreciated, and really don’t see how i’m making a contribution. I’ve posted my resume and have an interview lined up. I’m nervous and anxious but very excited about the opportunity.

Wish me luck.

10/30 Update:
Wow what a great interview today. That one from July fell through. Today was a breath of fresh air. I felt so alive walking out of there. Come on second interview!

11/15 Update:
Second interview. Very short, but powerful. Met with the director and two of his managers (my peers). While waiting the two introduced me around the office (seemed premature). They were very impressed with my resume and I answered all there questions and had a handful of my own. Said I was one of three, they’ll think on it over the weekend, make a decision next week. I’m so excited.

12/17/2021 Update:
Well it’s come to a close. After hundreds of applications, dozens of phone screens, multiple interviews and a handful of offers, I’ve finally singed an offer that I felt was a good fit for me. Over two years of this and I’m done. What an exhausting ride.

Good Luck.. You are playing it smart, not quitting until you get the dream job.

@whowasthatmaskedman exactly, at this point in my life, I have financial responsibilities that have to be met regardless of how I feel.

@PoetryNEmotion yes Ma’am. The stress and pressure make the struggle very real. I’m trying though.

Did you end up getting the job? 😀

Any luck on a new job??
brian29715 · 51-55, M
@Foxyfoxfox A little. I’ve had a phone screen and was told I’d hear more after the 19th. An HR rep found my information and sent me their company application links, I filled that out Friday.

I’m not without a job currently, just looking for the “perfect” fit, so I’m going slow.

Thank you for asking 🙏

Sorry that sucks. An employer that appreciates you, that honours what they said it would be means a lot. I don't mind my work, gives me a chance to use my intuition in funny ways, yes an industrial printing press can give you that.... who knew trying to feel out paper moving at 1000fpm would entertain me. But like almost any printing press now, they are hurting in money, the world has changed, and an accountant is running the show. I know how he thinks having us 12 hour swings shifts save a bottom line, but we all are drained, tired...

@SW-User yes, it’s a different world and good employers know how to adjust. I’ve just lost confidence in mine.
