I Hate My Mother

I can't take the pressure of constantly feeling guilty because of my toxic mother making everything seems my fault. The constant abuse, the scarred memories of her abuse. Feeling trapped because of i can't do anything to stop her from bullying me. Help..please.

There is only one answer short of winning the lotto; a job and your own residence. After that, it's simply a matter of limiting your time in her presence and, when you do see her, thinking of her as a character in a cable TV sitcom (but don't laugh out loud until you get home).

(Believe me, I do know something about witchy mothers and crazy parents. If you want to check out the outrageous details, you can read my featured story: I Wan To Know The Truth Behind My Family's Secrets and Lies)

@greenmountaingal "when you do see her, thinking of her as a character in a cable TV sitcom (but don't laugh out loud until you get home)."... that seriously made me loosen up a but, thank you :')

Also, i'm aware that if i had to move out then i'd need to find a job which i can. (I'm a boxer too so i can have few matches here and there as an additional source of income). But, i'd be forced to leave college. I can't do that.

@Valencia I like to think of the George Lopez Show, a sitcom about a happy middle class American Latino family, a husband and wife with great careers, a boy and a girl both doing well in school etc. Then...his mother, an argumentative, critical, aggressive, and unethical woman, a loudmoth chainsmoking survivor who brought the family to the US as a gutsy wetback many years before, loses her factory job and moves in with them. The whole family now has to cope.

It is the awful mother who provides most of the laughs. A great example to follow when you imagine your own witchy mother sitcom. You might even collect some of your mother's "better" lines and write them down to repeat later to friends. You'd be surprised at how funny bullies can sound when their nastiness is played for laughs.

Hope your college education doesn't have too much more time ahead of you.

Live in someone's garage, or live aboard someone's boat, or live in a van, truck or RV, or camp out etc....just get your own place ASAP. You will feel strong enough to cope with the problems of living on your own when you're free of your current energy draining situation.
