Hearing a sound I think is cicadas!

First time in a long time.

Once we visited Provence in France and they had all these souvenir clicky cicada toys. Have never seen them (the toys) in the US.

I just heard them recently, as well. It brought back memories, of when my dad told me what that very loud buzzing sound was.

@Piper They finally got going here. I feel like they come out later and later as the years go by. I admit I like the sound of them in the evening when they have a more pleasant sound. The crickets are finally in full force too. 🙂

@Peapod I haven't noticed the crickets yet. They will be joining us inside the house.

@Poppies I just love the sound of them. They will only be around until the first frost which usually happens by late September.

@Peapod I've only heard their very loud buzzing in the trees, twice. I had never heard them here in Florida, until fairly recently. They stayed around for a few days, and I did like knowing that they're still surviving and making a big noise. :)

@Piper You are so much like me in this thinking. I just enjoy the sounds of nature as I know it. I don't like the thought of any of these creatures disappearing. It's depressing enough that I don't see honey bees anymore. 🐝

I am surprised that even your area has been late in having the cicadas come out. I just assumed it was something with the northeast.

The thing that has been around in droves here are the fireflies. They just make summer feel like summer. 🤗

@Peapod I rarely see honey bees, either. I never see fireflies, anymore. It's encouraging when I hear of them still lighting up the evening...in some places. 🤗
