I Know A Secret That Is A Secret But It Is A Secret

It's crappy that I have been at a fast food joint for 12 years and have seen so many people come and go, and earned myself a reputation until a little over a year ago when my boss died of cancer and a new one replaced him. Then everyone except a few left and the new GM got transferred and we got another one, plus a new supervisor. Now since they don't know me or my good reputation of usually being on time, I was late and got told that if it happens again I'm fired.

On another note, there's an assistant who I've become friends with who used to fill in for the GM who died. I was told before this assistant transferred there permanently that he has cancer too. He hasn't told anyone, and it's killing me to watch it and not be able to say anything because I'm not supposed to know. He was giving me subtle hints last night that he's not feeling good, and asked me if I could cover his shift for today. It was such short notice that I couldn't because I am working from home, but I told him I would have if I could. Then he asked if I would come to his funeral if he dropped dead. Crap. :'( I can't watch another one.
