Poppies??? I'm thinking that this picture might be from a Rememberance Day rather than yesterday... 🤔

@HootyTheNightOwl Yeah, someone effed up, this pic isn't from yesterday 🥴
@spjennifer It's from the Field of Remembrance... back in 2002, I think - though its been used a few times for other occasions as well.

@HootyTheNightOwl I would agree, plus she looks younger in that pic than she does today!

@HootyTheNightOwl Maybe? Social media isn't always correct...but I can imagine how it must have felt for her and other family members. 😞💙
@Peaches I agree, it will have been hard for all of them. Despite his "hard edges", Prince Philip was something of the rock of the Royal Family.
I imagine that it will be hard for them now that he is no longer there.

@spjennifer Maybe they used this picture out of respect for the Queens privacy.😔🥀

@HootyTheNightOwl He came to our area first as a Naval Officer. Flags are half -mast everywhere
@atlantic59 He also sacrificed so much to be Prince Consort, too... especially when you consider just how differently things were done in the early decades of their marriage.
In a way, I think that it helped that his family was Royal in its own right, as well, because he wouldn't have had quite as much of a culture shock as commoners like Kate and Meg had between common life and Royal life. But, in other ways, his background hindered him as well because we never quite got used to Prince Philip being as outspoken as he was and it was too easy for the media to spin his outspokenness into a "Royal scandal" rather than embracing the cultural difference that it was.

@HootyTheNightOwl Kate went by my girlfriend's house on a Royal Visit, and waved to her from 2 feet away, (such as the sidewalks are)- It was exhilarating
@atlantic59 I used to want to go to London and see Buckingham Palace in person... I know that it will never happen for me now, though.

He cared about the environment, which he has passed on to his son. Charles is an avid fly-fisherman and a wonderful water colourist painter

@HootyTheNightOwl sorry. I read a funny book about the inside goings on there. Best you just fantasize from your distance
@atlantic59 I wanted to see it in real life, though... I bet it looks so much bigger when you're standing outside the gates.
