Also, early science had nothing to do with common sense. What used to be "common sense" was that diseases were caused by demons and the sun orbits around the earth. Of course, it is now "common sense" that viruses and bacterial infections cause disease, the world revolves around the sun and not the other way around. Science was never determined by common sense, science is the force responsible for shaping it. You have it a bit backwards.
